Are You Interested in Becoming a Beekeeper?

In 2018 Mid-State Beekeepers Association will offer its annual Beginning Beekeeper Course, to prepare the beginner with the knowledge needed to start beekeeping with the Spring 2018 nectar flow.  Classes will meet on the following dates:

Saturday, January 27th, 9AM to 4PM (classroom)
Saturday, February 24th, 9AM to 4PM (classroom)
Saturday, March 24th (half day - field day in the bee yard)

Cost is $65 per person. Seating is limited.
Registration closes December 15th, 2017 or sooner if class fills.

No prior knowledge is required. This course is designed to take the person with an interest, but no beekeeping knowledge, to an understanding of beekeeping and starting their first hives.

Course includes:

-A book on Basic Beekeeping

-Three sessions: Two Saturdays, and a third Saturday morning in a local bee yard.

-One year membership in Mid-State Beekeepers Association (2018 calendar year).

Classes will be held at McGregor Presbyterian Church in the fellowship hall. This is located in Irmo, SC. A map is available on our Home page.

Our beginner beekeeper course concentrates on the basics of beekeeping and is taught by experienced hobbyist and commercial beekeepers from MSBA. After classes have ended you will have a wide support group with MSBA to assist you in practical beekeeping matters.

Our Association schedules this course of instruction each year to enable new beekeepers to prepare and obtain their bees in time to capitalize on the spring bloom. We schedule classes to meet once a month, on Saturdays, in January, February, and March. Our Association orders bees in bulk for delivery in late March.
